The Secretary to the Asogli State Council, Stephen Tetteh has taken responsibility for the controversies surrounding the participation of maverick politician and Member of Parliament for Assin Central, Kennedy Ohene Agyapong in this year’s yam festival.

Mr. Agyapong last Friday went to Ho to present some gifts to the Agbogbomefia of the Asogli State, Togbe Afede as his support for the 2022 yam festival but his gifts were rejected.

Earlier reports which were later refuted, suggested that he was also chased.

A short video in circulation showed aides of Mr. Agyapong packing the gifts back into his car with a female voice shouting away away at the background.

It however emerged that Mr. Agyapong was sent an official invitation from the Asogli State Council to participate in the festival.

The letter specifically invited him to witness Togbe Afede’s sitting in state of that Friday and grand durbar the following day (Saturday).

Following the backlash, the secretary to the Asogli State, Stephen Tetteh who signed the letter inviting Mr. Agyapong explained that, the MP had earlier through his aides requested that he be invited to the festival. However, the Council of Chiefs of the Asogli State declined the request in view of some disparaging comments Mr. Agyapong made against Togbe Afede over the years.

Mr. Tetteh through what he described as “administrative lapse” nevertheless sent the requested invitation letter to Mr. Agyapong.

The Secretary has since apologized to both Mr. Agyapong and the Asogli State.
