Reports of the Asogli State and Togbe Afede rejecting the gifts presented by the Member of Parliament of Assin Central and Board Chairman of Ghana National Gas Company, Kennedy Ohene Agyapomg continue to trend as many question why such disgrace could have occurred.
The Member of Parliament is reported to have graced the occasion of Yam festival celebrated by the people of Asogli, a festival that is celebrated in September annually to mark the cultivation of yam that was started by a hunter who found the tuber in the forest during his hunting expedition.
However, this year’s celebration has been marred by news of rejection of gift from a public figure, news that has been making rounds on social media and major news portal.
In Videos seen on social media, some persons were hooting “away” while others kept saying you can’t disrespect our chief and bring us gifts for us to forget.
However, a letter inviting the member of parliament to the occasion has popped up on social media, leaving many to ask questions whether the invitation and the subsequent rejection by the Asogli state was a deliberate attempt to disgrace Kennedy Agyapong.
The letter of invitation, signed by one Stephen Tettey[secretary], addressed to Kennedy Agyapong invited the Hon. Member of Parliament to grace the occasion.
They acknowledged that Kennedy Agyapong has a busy schedule but should make time to join the celebration which is under the theme “Let’s Eschew Greed, Unite for Peace, Development and Prosperity”.
The reports said the Chief refused to meet Kennedy Agyapong and was blocked by subchiefs who claim he always disrespects their chief in the media.
Below is the full letter written to invite Kennedy Agyapong.
