Many indigenes from Gonjaland since Sunday January 23, 2023 have been wondering why the Lepowura, the chief of Lepo Kpembe of the Kujolobti Gate in the Kpembi Traditional Area of the Savannah Region would be buried in a foreign land.
They argued that as a chief though a devout Muslim, he ought to have been buried in his own soil and not in the United States of America (USA) where he died.
But the family has risen to the defense of interring the mortal remains of the former President of the Ghana Football Association (GFA) in the USA giving reasons for that decision.
According to one Murtala Jawula who is an uncle, “First is for medical reasons, secondly it was also Lepowura’s wish to buried here and wants Abdul Haq to give him his final bath. Please let us respect and accept his wishes. Allah have mercy on his soul and accepts him the highest class of Jannah. Aameen”
Lepowura Alhaji Mohammed Nuru-Deen Jawula died late last week at age 73
Alhaji Jawula was a Chairman of the GFA from 1997-2001.
He also chaired the MTN FA CUP Committee and was the Chairman of the Ghana Premier League Organizing Committee until his demise.
He served as a Chief Director of the Ghana Civil Service among other state institutions for a period of 30 years.
