The former Deputy General Secretary of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), Koku Anyidoho has taken a swipe at former President John Dramani Mahama after complaining about the government not paying for his bills since leaving the Presidency.
Anyidoho, a former Presidential aide during the Presidency of the late Atta Mills, dared John Mahama to name one thing he has done for the late President which gives him the right to complain about his own treatment today.
“Ask John Dramani Mahama continues to whine about his emoluments, I ask: John Dramani Mahama, what did you do for the late President Atta-Mills? The man who made you, Running Mate & VIce President – for you to become President,” Anyidoho roared in a post on Twitter.
In a long rant covering numerous topics concerning his alienation from the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Anyidoho attacked ex-President Mahama for complaining about his benefits since leaving office.
He said Mahama personally has done nothing for ex-President Mills so he deserves whatever is coming his way,
He added that the ex-President is also dishonest since the state takes care of some expenses but would not take care of his extracurricular activities.
“John Dramani Mahama is whining & telling lies about his emoluments. Per documents, State pays when an ex-President travels abroad for official assignments – also entitled to 2 holidays in a year. So, if u travel on ur own account to have fun, why shd the State pay?” he said.
“I refuse to be enthused by the high-pitch yelping of John Dramani Mahama vis his supposedly truncated emoluments. He ungratefully did NOTHING for the Memory of President Atta-Mills.” Anyidoho added.
He further challenged the former President to prove him wrong and name anything he did to honour his former boss.
“I am being BLUNT: John Dramani Mahama, point to a single thing that you have done to eulogise, President John Evans Atta-Mills.”
In an interview with TV3 a few weeks ago, ex-President Mahama painted a dire picture of his finances.
According to him, he’s had to take care of his own bills since leaving office since the Akufo-Addo-led government has refused to pay him any benefits.
“I receive only my monthly pension, like President Kufuor or President Rawlings was receiving until he died. That is all I get…I pay the electricity bill for my house, for my office. I pay the water bill for my house and my office. I live in my own accommodation so the state does not pay me anything for accommodation.
“They haven’t given me an office, I rent an office in East Cantonments, I pay the rent myself, I pay for my own fuel, the state doesn’t give me fuel. I pay my own domestic staff, I pay my own medical bills. I pay my own air tickets when I travel,” he revealed.
