Pressure group, OccupyGhana says their advocacy is mainly intellectual as they target the hearts and mind people, hence their reluctant to stage demonstrations.

The group who were loud during the erstwhile administration have been criticized for going mute since the Akufo-Addo administration came to power creating the impression that they are NPP pressure group.

However, a leading member of the group have refuted those claims revealing they have never organized a demonstration and they don’t intend to stage any.

Ace Ankomah who was speaking on CITI TV’s Point of View show said, the group which did not exist until July 2014 only came together as concerned citizens to present a petition to then President Mahama and started meeting afterward.

He revealed that, he was at the gathering for just 30 minutes and he feel flattered to be credited for bringing down a whole government.

“OccupyGhana did not exist on July 1, 2014. We attended (Occupy Flagstaff House) as individuals. We started meeting afterwards, the group –OccupyGhana- was formed in September. The people who should take the credit are not bring credited with it.”

He continued that, “This is a group of young men and a woman who were called ‘concerned citizens for responsible governance’. I was there for no more than 30 minutes …after I sat in my car and went away.

OccupyGhana has never staged a demonstration; we have never done that as a group because when we were founded, we said out battle is for the hearts and minds. We decided that our fights will be for the hearts and minds and that we will stage intellectual battle in an arena where you can’t physically beat us.”

“And so, since we were founded, we had simply issued statements. The fact that it has been hyperbolized means that it has the effects than they admit. The group itself has never been on the streets, that is a point.” He added.
