Former Member of Parliament for the Ayensuano Constituency who is the Eastern Regional Coordinator for the Alan Kyerematen campaign has reiterated his calls for the New Patriotic Party (NPP) to elect a Christian as flagbearer for the political party.

The former Member of Parliament believes that the 2024 elections will not be centred on issues bothering the economy and other important issues affecting Ghanaian citizens but rather on the religion of the various flagbearers.

Therefore, the New Patriotic Party (NPP) will make headway in the 2024 elections if the party votes for a Christian as its flagbearer for the 202e4 election.

Samuel Ayeh-Paye reiterated his position while speaking on Accra-based Adom TV.

He said ” as for me, I feel that as NPP as I am, the statistical service has said that 71% of Ghanaians are Christians, 17% are Muslims. So for me, I believe that in 2024 whatever the case will be, the NDC will bring John Mahama and he is a Christian.

If we don’t take care, these NDC guys will campaign in Churches so we need to be very careful so that the candidate we will present will not have issues with his religious background. Left with me, I will suggest that we field a Christian as our flagbearer for the 2024 election because that will not give the NDC weapons to use against us,” he said.

This is not the first time Ayeh-Paye has made such reckless religious and divisive comments.

It could be remembered that MyNewsGh.com intercepted his chat with some delegates where he advised against voting for Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia on the grounds that he is a Muslim and will be problematic for him to win against NDC.

The earlier report read reject Bawumia because he’s a Muslim- Alan’s E/R Coordinator stokes religious fire.
