Former Member of Parliament of Tema East Constituency Daniel Titus-Glover says, the venom poured on the Judiciary and Chief Justice by the former President is as a result of frustration.
The Former Deputy Transport Minister who was speaking on Asempa Flagship show EKOSII SEN said, the former president’s statement was rather a partisan, political and dangerous for our country.
“He said the president is making political appointment to the supreme court, his statement is more partisan and dangerous, I see his statement as a sign of frustration, very distasteful, so embarrassing and very unfortunate.”
Mr. Titus-Glover said, the statement by the former president is unfortunate because the former President has ascended the throne before and do not expect him to make such statement.
“Mr. Mahama has been president before and he knows the processes that Judges appointments go through. Names are subjected to the General Legal Council.”
He continued that, appointments are made to the supreme court not on partisan basis but purely made base on merit.
Responding to the Host about not appointing politically exposed persons to the supreme court as judges, the former Deputy Minister said,
“I don’t subscribe to the political appointment argument, the work of the judges has got nothing to do with politics, because even though am not a lawyer, I know when lawyers go to court, they go with facts and evidence and legal authorities to buttress your case.”
