Former Attorney General, Betty Mould Iddrisu has taken on Attorney General and Minister for Justice, Godfred Yeboah Dame for his criticism of John Mahama’s posture against the Judiciary.
According to the Betty Mould Iddrisu, the Attorney General’s comment were unfortunate, undemocratic and a disrespectful to Ghanaian.
In an interview with TV XYZ in Accra on September 29, she called on the judiciary to have an introspection and do away with their defensive posture to critique.
Taking a dig at the attorney general, the former Attorney General referred to Godred Dame as ‘young’ and said she has forgiven him on Christian principles.
“Very unfortunate for a young Attorney General, Godfred Dame to come out with such statement about the former President. He was disrespectful and very upsetting to me, having held that position before.
“I forgive him because I am a Christian and it’s an act of charity…” She told IDEAS Exchange show host Eric Ahianyo
She said, most of the attendees at the NDC lawyers meeting agreed with the ex-president comment which she was the chairperson to the event.
“I chaired that conference of NDC lawyers John Mahama addresses. And all of us enthusiastically support his remarks about the perception of Ghanaians waning confidence in the Judiciary.”
As a word of caution, she urged the Attorney General who doubles as a leader of the Bar not to use the Bar Association meeting to make such denigrating statements as it is not the appropriate forum.
