Second lady Samira Bawumia eloquently espoused the virtues of Ghana during an appearance on the American television network, ABC News’ talk show, Good Morning America.
Speaking with host Robin Roberts during a trip to Ghana, Samira laid out what virtues and attributes make Ghana and Ghanaians special as a destination for Africans from the diaspora to visit.
Samira said the rich history of Ghana, the culture and the hospitability of Ghanaians stands out from that of every other country, going on to describe the nation as the ‘Star of Africa’.
The Second lady met Robin Roberts alongside Black Panther star, Danai Gurira, at the Black Star Square in Accra.
“Welcome to Ghana; it is such a pleasure to meet you,” these were the words of Samira to the American broadcaster.
She went on to point out that Ghana was the first country south of the Sahara to gain independence from British rule, before adding other attributes to convince viewers of the country’s uniqueness.
“Where do I start from, a people make a nation, and Ghana has the warmest people. Ghana is really the star of Africa,” she said.
The Black Panther actress Gurira, who has already been to Ghana a few times, also spoke highly of the country.
“I adore this nation…the fact that it was the first nation to gain independence from the British either than that, I love the food, the people and the fashion. I love the culture,” she told Robin Roberts.
Good Morning America ran a series of features on Ghana over the past week which saw popular anchor Robin Roberts visit the West African nation.
Alongside Danai and a couple of tour guides, they visited various tourist sites in Accra, culminating their trip with a visit to the ‘Dine on a Map’ restaurant, where they had some Ghanaian jollof rice – the best in Africa.
