The former Member of Parliament for Prestea Huni Valley, Barbara Oteng Gyasi, has donated Ghc 10,000 to the Appiatse Disaster Relief Committee, to help with the continued care of the victims of the Appiatse explosion.
The donation was announced by Chairman General, Kwame Sefa Kayi, on the Monday, August 22nd edition of Peace Fm’s Morning Show, ‘Kokrokoo’.
The donation followed an appeal by Thywill Quarshie, the Public Relations Officer of the Appiatse Disaster Relief Committee on Kokrokoo that the Committee needs more funds to aid in the continued care of victims of the January 2022 explosion.
Speaking on the aftermath of the explosion, Thywill said there are six survivors who are still hospitalised, suffering disastrous aftereffects of the explosion.
He revealed that proceeds from the Disaster Relief Committee’s Support Fund are used to reconstruct the township and to pay for feeding and medical bills for the survivors.
However, there are little funds to be used for their day-to-day care.
Thywill appealed to the public to donate to the Committee to be used to directly care for the survivors and their dependents.
