The Director-General of the National Lottery Authority (NLA), Sammi Awuku, has shed more light on why the Vice President, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, donated Ghc 50,000 to the church of Ghanaian man of God, Reverend Isaac Owusu Bempah.
Bawumia made the donation when he worshipped with Owusu Bempah‘s Glorious Word and Power Ministry on Christmas Day.
However, certain political actors have attempted to infer nefarious motives behind the donation.
Awuku clarified the issue when he spoke on the reason for the donation.
“Our father (Bawumia) recognizes that today is Christmas Day. so his seed offering will go to this church. Vice President has an offering of GH¢50,000 for the church. His love and Christmas and seed offering is that amount.
“The Vice President also recognizes that some of the conversations cannot be held in public so he would like to have a brief meeting with pastor after the service. He also has a reward for pastors in the church,” he said.
Bawumia’s donation appeared to have triggered controversial NPP politician Hopeson Adorye, a staunch supporter of Alan Kyeremanten.
Following the donation, he took to social media to infer that Bawumia was attempting to get Owusu Bempah on his side to prophesy him as the victor in the NPP’s 2024 polls.
He wrote: “Nobody can bribe a true man of God to prophesy in his favor. The champion prophet”.
