Former President John Dramani Mahama has donated a staggering sum of Ghc 1.9m to the National Democratic Congress (NDC) to aid the operations of the party.
Ghc 1,100,000 of the donation is to help the party defray debts owed to the Electoral Commission by the party in respect to the just-ended constituency elections.
The rest of the amount is to the national party leadership to aid in the organisation of regional election conferences across the country.
A press release from the party, signed by National Communications Officer Sammy Gyamfi, revealed the donation.
“The NDC’s flag-bearer for the 2020 general elections has donated an amount totalling ¢1,953,000 to support the conduct of the party’s constituency and regional internal elections.

“The party is most grateful to His Excellency and his generous sponsors for coming to the assistance of the party at this crucial time.” the release concluded.
Former President John Dramani Mahama is widely expected to be elected as the NDC’s flagbearer at its upcoming national delegates congress.
Mahama would be seeking a mandate to lead the party in the 2024 election and attempt to regain his former position as President.
He is expected to face competition from former Bank of Ghana Governor and Finance Minister, Dr Kwabena Duffour.
