The Director of Communications for the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP), Dr Richard Ahiagbah, has lamented the spate of booings that has been happening recently to members of the government.
In a rant on Twitter, Dr Ahiagbah said the booing is a new canker infecting our body politic which must be uprooted before all politics devolve into shouting matches.
He was reacting after the Vice President, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, was booed by some section of the crowd at the Hogbetsotso Festival during his speech.
The Vice President delivered a speech to massive audience cheers as he listed the NPP government’s achievements, but he ran into trouble at a point as some audience members booed him as well.
That follows in the wake of three similar recent booings against the President.
Reacting to the incidents, Ahiagbah said: “I am saddened by my kinsmen hooting at DMB, at Hogbe, not only that I’m an NPP, but because of the deafening silence of thought leaders at this poor conduct which is fast becoming the norm. We must deal with it b4 our politics turns into a shouting contest,”

President Akufo-Addo Booed
President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo was booed by dissatisfied Ghanaians during a trip through Akyem AKROSO in the Eastern Region, marking the third time in a very short span that Ghanaians booed him.
The latest incident saw the President’s convoy booed by angry residents of Akyem Akroso over the poor state of roads in their area.
The President’s convoy was driving over those poor roads at the time of the citizens, who had piled up by the roadside, made sure to make their displeasure loud enough to be heard by the passing convoy.
Earlier, a similar incident occurred at the Global Citizen Festival.
The President was booed by angry attendees after appearing on a chyron to deliver his prepared remarks.
An irate crowd at the Global Citizen Festival hooted at the President as he appeared on-screen to deliver his remarks on the event.
A few weeks after encountering boos during the Global Citizen Festival in Accra, President Akufo-Addo was faced with the same situation at Adum in the NPP stronghold of Kumasi.
Traders at the Adum Market in Kumasi’s Central Business District hooted at the President’s convoy as it drove through the area in yet another embarrassing incident.
The traders hooted, jeered and booed to register their displeasure with the performance of the Akufo-Addo-led government on the economy.
