Finance Minister Ken Ofori-Atta has called for Ghanaians to continue having faith in him because he and his team knows what they are doing in regard to keeping the Ghanaian economy afloat.
Speaking to members of the Association of Ghana Industries, in Accra on Wednesday, November 3rd 2022, the embattled Minister said he has been through aches and pains and nobody can tell him that he doesn’t understand what he’s doing.
He gave assurances to the members of the AGI and said Ghanaians in general should have confidence that they will get the economy back on track.
“Just to assure you that you have a finance minister who has gone through all the pains and aches and nobody can really come and say we don’t understand what we are doing,” he said.
“The question is what resources do we have and how we are going to deploy them in the nation that we have in very difficult circumstances but being very confident that the nation is purposed for greatness and we are blessed to have the opportunity to lead where we are going,” Ofori-Atta added.
“Let me assure you all that your best bet is still Ghana,”
The Minister has been under immense pressure to be axed from the general public, civil society leaders and politicians, including members of his own party’s majority caucus in Parliament.
Recently, over 80 members of the NPP’s majority caucus called for his firing and were only dissuaded from their mission after a meeting with the President.
President Akufo-Addo reportedly said the firing of Ofori-Atta would derail the ongoing IMF process, which the government considers crucial in digging itself out of the current economic quagmire.
