The police have arrested Francis-Xavier Sosu, the National Democratic Congress (NDC) MP for Madina for reckless and inconsiderate driving.
The lawmaker was arrested on Thursday 3 November 2022 after he was seen driving in the middle of the road around Airport in his vehicle with registration number GB-9776-21 “with no regard for law abiding pedestrians and other road users,” a police source told Asaase News.
According to the sources, his vehicle has been impounded by the police and he has been charged to appear in court to be put through the due process of the law.
The Madina MP has been at loggerheads with the police for some time now after he led his constituents to demonstrate over the poor state of their road.
The police said the demonstrators blocked the roads, burnt tyres and destroyed public property in the process. The police had wanted to arrest the MP as the lead organiser but he escaped the arrest.
The MP had since avoided arrest using his parliamentary immunities. The case has since been pending in court.
