Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia has assured the Paramount Chief of the Tumu Traditional Area, Kuoro Richard Babini Kanton IV that government appointees are having sleepless nights thinking of how to bring development to the area.
The Vice President promised that some pending road infrastructural projects in the area would be greenlit with the provision of a dedicated fund.
Dr Bawumia made his assurances during a courtesy call to the palace of the Tumu Kuoro on his tour of the Upper West Region.
The Paramount Chief laid some of the area’s development challenges before the Veep and he responded by giving assurances that they are working day and night to ensure they are done.
“The most important challenge in terms of development of the area is in the area of roads and Tumu Kuoro has made mention of that especially when you look at the Wa-Tumu-Chuchuliga road. There is one contractor who is on site out of five. We are going to make sure there is a dedicated funding. We are going to find ways to get these contractors paid because I will find it very difficult to come here in 2024 if these roads are not really done. It’s a major issue for all of us and we are going to try to push to see how we are going to get these roads done for transport for our people,” Dr Bawumia said.
He added: “We your children in government are not sleeping. We are trying to bring development but sometimes it’s slower than we want but we will try and do our best so you should be rest assured and ask that you’ll be patient as we bring development,”
On security, the Vice President disclosed “I think security is one thing that was mentioned, I am also happy to let you know that before the end of this year in addition to the forward operating base, we are going to have Formed Police Unit one in Gwollu and one in Tumu with vehicles and motorbikes and so on”
