The Vice President, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, has hailed the Minister of Roads and Highways, Kwasi Amoako-Atta, over his phenomenal record as a Minister since being appointed by President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo.
Bawumia hailed Amoako-Atta for his record, particularly when it comes to road construction.
According to the Vice President, he’s so impressed with Amoako-Atta’s works he now calls him ‘Champion Minister’.
Bawumia said under his leadership, the NPP government has constructed the most roads out of any government in the history of Ghana’s Fourth Republic.
“I call him Champion Minister because under his (Kwasi Amoako Attah) leadership the government led by President Nana Addo Dankwa Akuafo Addo has constructed more roads than any other government in the Fourth Republic,” Bawumia said.
Similarly, Bawumia added, more interchanges and bridges have been constructed under Amoako-Atta’s leadership than at any point in time in Ghana’s history.
The Vice President made these remarks when he commissioned 22km of roads in Cape Coast as part of the Master Project Support Agreement between the Government of China through the Sinohydro corporation.
NDC Proven Wrong
During the same commissioning in Cape Coast, the Vice President lashed out at the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) for calling him and the NPP ‘liars’ after mooting the idea of the SinoHydro road projects.
Speaking during the commissioning of the Cape Coast Inner City roads, the latest stretch of the SinoHydro road project to be commissioned, the Vice President said instead of the NDC to read and find out what they (NPP) mean when they say something, they just reply that they’re lying.
“I am particularly happy today because when we first mooted the idea of the SinoHydro road project after my visit to China in 2018, many of our political opponents said that what we were proposing to do under the SinoHydro road projects was not possible. They said we were lying,” Dr. Bawumia said.
“But today marks yet another day of the commissioning of yet another SinoHydro project. Unfortunately for some of our opponents, when we say something and they don’t understand, instead of asking for an explanation and also reading about it, they don’t like to read, they don’t want to ask for an explanation; they just say you’re lying. But today, as we commission the road, they are silent. They are no longer saying it is not possible.” Bawumia jabbed.
