A member of the New Patriotic Party(NPP) Dr. Amoako Baah has raised questions about the president’s handlers following an incident at the Global Citizens Awards on Saturday, September 24, 2022.
A section of the patrons at this year’s Festival which was held in Black Stars Square in Accra jeered at President Akufo-Addo when he mounted the podium to deliver a speech.
Mr. Amoako Baah taking a swipe at the president’s handlers say the president men failed him as they should have gauged his popularity.
“It is just a sad occasion; this should never happen. It also goes to speak to the handlers of the President, how is it possible that this old man could be left on the stage all that time by himself?”he quizzed
He said, the president’s handlers should have interrupted the speech to calm the audience to allow the president continue.
“He is talking they don’t mind him, they booing him and nobody mounted the stage to interrupt the whole thing and give the president the chance to come again and address them very quickly and get off stage, nothing happened, he stood there and he was talking but they did not mind him. He eventually raised his hand and walked off.” He added.
The political scientist who was speaking on Morning Starr on Starr FM said, the incident should tell the President how unpopular he is.
“He should use this to advise himself as to how angry Ghanaians are. For such an occasion to be turned into such a fiasco is very bad. If he has been listening to his handlers to tell him what he wants to hear, now, he should put his ears down and get others to tell him what is going on.” He said.
He added that, “He has to know his own popularity among his people. People are hungry, you go this occasion in a convoy, why should you do that? The country is in hardship and yet you don’t behave in any way to let the people know that you feel for them and that you in with them. You continue to do business as usual.”
