The Ghana Statistical service has announced a 37.2 percent as Ghana’s inflation for the month of September.
This indicates a 3.3% increase from August Inflation announced in September.
Five groups recorded inflation rates higher than the national average in September, the GSS further announced.
They were Housing, Water, Electricity, Gas and Other fuels (68.8%); Furnishings, Household Equipment and Routine Household Maintenance (51.1%); Transport (48.6%); Personal Care, Social Protection and Miscellaneous Goods and Services (42.6%) as well as Food and Non-Alcoholic Beverages (37.8%).
The 37.2% September inflation is up from 33.9% recorded in August same year, the Ghana Statistical Service (GSS) has announced in Accra on Wednesday October 12.
Announcing the August inflation on Wednesday, September 14, Government Statistician Professor Samuel Annim observed that six items recorded inflations higher than the national average.
“This was led by Housing, Water, Electricity and Gas having the highest rates of inflation of 46.7 percent, followed closely by Transport 45.7 percent and up to Food and Non-Alcoholic Beverages being the sixth item that recorded rate of inflation higher than the national average of 33.9 percent.”
