The Bono Regional Chairman of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP), Kwame Baffoe aka Abronye DC, has lashed out at Ghanaians for booing President Akufo-Addo during his appearance at the Global Citizen Festival.

According to the controversial politician, ex-President John Dramani Mahama deserves to be booed offstage wherever he goes and not a leader who is working hard to help this country out of a pandemic.

Abronye used an example of an alleged corrupt act from the Mahama era to illustrate his point.

He wrote on Facebook: The “Away Away” won’t bring back our Port that was sold by John Mahama for 35 years at just GHS 7 billion dollars to his best friend Vincent Bollore (Meridian Port Services) in 2015.

“Termination of this agreement will cause the nation $21 billion. If the away away crowd can cough this amount for Vincent Bollore, the government is ready to terminate the contract signed by John Mahama and this will reduce our hardship.

“The Ghanaian Youth who are calling for the coming of JM should just add 35 years to his current age. Someone sold your destiny when he was in power or government and you’re still calling for his come back.. It is John Mahama who deserves Away Away Away Away and not someone who even in the middle of pandemic is engaging in several developmental projects,”

Abronye’s response comes following a humiliating moment at the Global Citizen Festival held at the Black Star Square on Saturday, September 24th 2022.

The irate crowd at the Global Citizen Festival hooted at President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo after appearing on-screen to deliver his remarks on the event.

The crowd started chanting and hooting at the President, apparently out of frustration at the current difficult economic conditions in the country.

A video of the event surfaced online as the crowd could be heard rhythmically chanting: “away, away,”
