Ghanaian businessman Daniel McKorley popularly known as McDan has called for patience to allow finance minister Ken Ofori-Atta to fix the Ghanaian economy.
Speaking in a recent interview with TV3, he brushed off the continuous calls for a ministerial reshuffle and said the President knows why he’s sticking with Ken Ofori-Atta.
He maintained that whilst he respects the opinion of those calling for a reshuffle, the minister should be given a chance and he will eventually come good.
“I have respect for those calling for his dismissal. The Finance Minister must be given the chance to fix Ghana’s problems. The President knows why he is still keeping him,” McDan said in a TV 3 interview.
He was responding to recent claims by Prof Baffuor Agyemang-Duah, a governance expert and Chief Executive of the Kufuor Foundation.
Professor Agyemang-Duah joined a litany of calls that the Finance Minister should be fired for running the economy into the ground.
“If you put your ears to the ground what we hear popularly is the health sector implying the Minister of Health as well as the Minister of Agric, these two including the Finance are the prominent ones [to be reshuffled]”
“So all these could be factors that I think if the President wants to make a move he can take an account of to inform his decision,” Prof Agyemang-Duah explained.
Meanwhile, the President has indicated that he’s satisfied with his cousin’s performance as Minister and sees no reason to change him at this time.
