The Northern Regional Chairman of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), Alhaji Ibrahim Mobila, has died.
Alhaji Mobila sadly passed away in the afternoon of Tuesday, August 16th 2022.
He was 90.
The NDC politician had been battling illness for the past one month whilst on admission at the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of the Tamale Teaching Hospital when he gave up the ghost.
His passing was announced by Deputy Youth Organizer of the NDC, Edem Agbana, in a post shared on Facebook.
Agbana eulogised the late Chairman, a great man who served as a mentor for generations upon generations of upcoming NDC politicians.
“We lost our Northern Regional Chairman, Alhaji Mobla. An amazing man and father is gone. A few weeks ago, he asked the Northern Regional Secretary, Alhaji Abdul Salam to call me so he (Alhaji Mobla) could speak with me.
“Aside his encouraging words, he asked me to visit him for a few things. I promised him a visit after an impending trip abroad, Chairman couldn’t wait for me to visit him again for his fatherly blessings and prayers. May Allah grant him rest,” he wrote.
Aside from being the NPP Northern Regional Chairman, the late Alhaji Ibrahim Mobila doubled as the chief of Tugu-Yapala in the Dagbon Traditional Area.
In accordance with Islamic customs, he will be buried at about 5pm at the Tamale Central Cemetary, Zujung.
