The Ghana Football Association has announced two national days of prayer and fasting for the Black Stars ahead of their participation in the 2022 Fifa World Cup in Qatar next month.
The FA has a Christian day of prayer planned for Sunday, October 23rd 2022.
Prior to that, an Islamic day of prayer and fasting would be held on Friday, October 21st 2022.
The two activities are presumably set up to pray for God’s intervention for the Black Stars ahead of the tournament.
The 2022 Fifa World Cup kicks off on November 20th 2022 in Qatar, with Ghana placed in a so-called ‘Group of Death’ alongside Portugal, Uruguay and South Korea.
Ghana has history with both Portugal and Uruguay at the Mundial.
Portugal beat the Black Stars in the final group game in Brazil 2014 to eliminate the team, whilst Ghana lost on penalties to Uruguay in the infamous 2010 Quarterfinals game in Soweto, South Africa.
This time, the Black Stars enter the tournament as one of the worst teams in it – perhaps they need some prayers after all.
