An aide to ex-President John Dramani Mahama, Joyce Bawa Mogtari, hit back at Gabby Otchere-Darko after he mocked the NDC over the outcome of the Jomoro case.
The NDC has been crying out over the biased nature of the judiciary hence after winning a court case in Jomoro involving the eligibility of the NDC MP, Dorcas Affo-Toffey, Gabby said this proves justice is blind in Ghana.
In a tweet, Mr Otchere-Darko said “Congrats! It is refreshing to be amply reminded that the legal system works! That, Lady Justice remains blind.”
However, Joyce Mogtari fired back, saying justice only works when judges refuse to be mainpulated.
“Thank you, Sir! The Hon Toffee was duly elected by the good people of Jomoro and same has been affirmed by the Court! The judicial system certainly works where a Judge, lady or gentleman refuses to be manipulated and remains blind to influence, justice will certainly be done!” she wrote in a Twitter comment.
On Monday November 21, a Sekondi High Court dismissed an election petition seeking to challenge the eligibility of the NDC Member of Parliament (MP) for Jomoro in the Western Region Dorcas Affo-Toffey.
The presiding judge, Justice Dr. Richmond Ose, while making reference from Article 48 of the Ivorian Nationality Code, ruled that the first respondent Dorcas Affo-Toffey was eligible to contest as she had amply satisfied the requirements needed for her to renounce and also lose her Ivorian citizenship.
