Although the Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia is yet to declare his intentions to contest in the upcoming flagbearership race of the New Patriotic Party(NPP), he has received endorsements for notable personalities in the Northern Region.
It will be recalled that Alhaji Hindu, a former aspirant recently declared his support for the vice president should he opt to contest in the election, a gesture which is thought to be huge for the chances of Dr. Bawumia in the Northern Region.
The latest to join the Bawumia train is Alhaji Inusah Amadu alias ‘Dagomba Boy’ who was thought to be a staunch supporter of the Alan Campaign.
Breaking his silence, the former Yendi Constituency Chairman of the NPP disclosed that he cannot turn his back on the Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia if he decides to contest the flagbearership of the party when nomination open in the future.
According to ‘Dagomba boy’ the vice President camp reached out to him and there was no way he can disappoint the man who has shown him reverence.
Speaking on NTV on Monday, the former constituency chairman said he is making his intentions clear because he holds not position in the party.
“Among the prospective NPP flagbearer aspirants, it is only the camp of the Vice President that has reached out to me for my support. I will gladly endorse his candidature if he chooses to officially run as flagbearer of the NPP. I will officially come out and do the needful because no one has approached me. I am making my stance clear because I am not a party executive and I have not been appointed to any party position. I have no way to disappoint Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia because it would amount to disliking the NPP”,he said.
The NPP stalwart reminded his supporters of his calls for them to remain with the party and work towards achieving its overall goal reiterating his loss while seeking to be Regional Chairman is not the end of the road for them.
“In every endeavor, you have two options to succeed and to lose but that does not mean you are out of the game. You remain an integral part and can resurface someday. I told my supporters this when I organized a get-together after the Regional Polls”, he recounted.
