NDC Deputy General Secretary Peter Boamah Otukonor has mocked President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo after he said he doesn’t know if Aisha Huang was deported back in 2018.
According to Otukonor, the President is always affecting ignorance over decisions he has taken and that very soon he will tell us he does not even know if he is the President of Ghana.
“The President has issued executive instrument and he says he is not aware. He has written letters of authority and he says he is not aware. Corruption appears under him and everybody is talking about it and he says he is not aware. Today, Aisha Huang, he is saying that he is not aware that Aisha Huang was deported. Very soon he will say that he is not aware he is the president of this country and I think we should be worried. We should be concerned,” Otokunor said on the sidelines of an NDC press conference held Thursday, September 15th 2022.
Otukonor said he is completely baffled as to how somebody was deported from Ghana by the admission of the President and the then Senior Minister, only for the same President to come back later and claim ignorance.
“…I wonder how somebody who is supposed to have been deported and the president admitting that she has been deported. The senior minister, if you want the prime minister Osafo-Maafo saying that she has been deported, all of a sudden the president is playing dumb and saying that he doesn’t know that the woman has been deported.”
Otukonor’s comments come after President Akufo-Addo recently said that he does not know for a fact that Aisha Huang was deported in 2018.
Speaking in an interview on Stone City Radio in Ho during his tour of the Volta Region, the president said: “… I am not still sure whether she was, in fact, deported or whether she fled the country the first time and has now come back or whatever. There still seems to be some uncertainty about it.”
His comments shocked Information Minister Kojo Oppong Nkrumah who was in the studio with the President at the time.
He later came out to clarify the President’s words, claiming he was only unsure if she was deported or repatriated.
