Special aide to Former President John Mahama, Joyce Bawa Mogtari has reacted angrily to comments made by Attorney General and Minister for Justice, Godfred Yeboah Dame.
Mr. Dame speaking earlier today in Ho during the ongoing Ghana Bar Association Conference had some unkind words for Mr. Mahama.
Mr. Mahama at a recent NDC lawyers conference said the image of the judiciary has sunk so low and it will take a new Chief Justice to restore it.
Addressing the Ghana Bar Association Conference which is currently ongoing in Ho, Mr. Dame described Mahama’s comments as deplorable and unbecoming of a former head of state.
This obviously did not go down well with Mrs. Bawa-Mogtari who is a niece to the former president.
In a facebook post, Joyce Bawa Mogtari, who is herself a lawyer described Dame’s comment as childish and amateurish.
According to her, that’s the first time an AG made such a scathing remark at a Bar conference. She described the comment further as disdainful and disrespectful not only to the former president but also to members of the Ghana Bar Association and Ghanaians at large .
Joyce’s Facebook post
To my utter shock and surprise, I find the childish and amateur comments of AG Dame at the opening ceremony of the Annual Bar Conference utterly disdainful, distasteful and disrespectful of the good people of Ghana, the members of the Ghana Bar and of course the uncouth attacks on the Former President John Dramani Mahama, must be condemned and treated with utter contempt.
John Mahama like all well meaning Ghanaians has every right to express his reservations about Ghana’s Judiciary.
Never in the history of this country has an Attorney General made such scathing remarks at a Bar Conference.
His comments further undermine Ghana’s nascent democracy!
