Member of Parliament for Ningo Prampram, Sam George, has rubbished the prospect that any other politician in the NDC can challenge ex-President Mahama for the flagbearer position.
According to George, who is known for making mockery of his political opponents, he is personally more popular than Mahama’s anticipated challenges, Kwabena Duffour and Kojo Bonsu.
George said he could win the flagbearer race himself if those were his opponents, not to speak of former President Mahama.
He made this known when he spoke in an interview on Accra-based Joy Prime.
“You are saying what If Mahama is not the flagbearer of NDC? Oh, how? With the greatest of respect to them if I stand, I will beat the two of them, how much more John Mahama? Me I have fans in the NDC than the two of them combine,” he said when told Kojo Bonsu and Dr Kwabena Duffour are lacing their boots to contest the former President.
The National Democratic Congress (NDC) will go to the polls to elect a flagbearer on May 13, 2023.
Ex-President Mahama is the presumptive nominee with many top party officials including Sam George, Hannah Bissiw and others calling for the party not to waste anytime with a flagbearer race and just acclaim Mahama as the candidate.
