Although the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and the National Democratic Congress (NDC) are yet to elect their torchbearers for the 2024 presidential election, the Majority Chief Whip in Parliament Frank Annoh-Dompreh has said that the polls will certainly be an electoral battle between Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia for the NPP, and former President John Dramani Mahama for the NDC.

On the side of the NPP, at least, four stalwarts have declared their interest to be the flagbearer of the party.
They are Former Minister of Trade and Industry Alan Kyerematen, Assin Central Lawmaker Kennedy Agyapong, former General Secretary of the NPP Kwabena Agyei Agyepong, and Former Minister of Food and Agriculture Dr Owusu Akoto Afriyie. Dr Bawumia is yet to publicly declare his intention but he is most likely to contest.

Mr Frank Annoh-Dompreh indicated that Dr Bawumia presents the hope of the governing party and Ghana in general.
“It will certainly be between BMW( our hope): and JM( The spent force)!” he tweeted on Wednesday, January 18.

The Nsawam-Adoagyiri lawmaker further indicated that Dr Bawumia “is a gift to this Nation, let’s not take it for granted. Do away with your ‘Hatred’ for him.. He will rescue us, certainly. Dr.Bawumia, ever proud of him.”
