NPP Presidential candidate aspirant, Honourable Kennedy Ohene Agyapong, has replied to NPP founding member, Dr Nyaho Nyaho-Tamakloe after he queried what Agyapong has ever done for the party.
Dr Nyaho-Tamakloe in a recent interview said Kennedy Agyapong is not fit to be President because he has never done anything to help the NPP party.
Agyapong replied by listing tons of help he’s provided to the party including paying off a loan of $3m the party took in 1992.
“We once went for a loan of US$3million through CAL Bank. I paid the loan with interest, and it took us eight years, Super Care Company LTD; my company took eight years to pay back the loan with interest. Three million dollars at that time plus interest in 1992. Even today as we speak, $3 million is a lot of money how much more 31 years ago.” Kennedy Agyapong said in an interview with NET 2 TV.
According to the businessman, former President Kuffour was aware of his sacrifice for the party and expressed it to him.
“That is why I will always give credit to President Kufuor. When he came to power, for the first four years I didn’t get any job to do, so when I went to tell him about it, he was shocked. That is why President Kufuor agreed to give me contracts. Because of this history, President Kufuor promoted me.”
Kennedy Agyapong also cited instances where he personally funded the purchasing of vehicles for the party. In different instances and years, he bought hundreds of cars for the NPP.
“I have been with the party for long. I’m here because I’ve seen the comment from Nyaho-Tamakloe. We have done a lot things behind the scenes. I started following this party when I was 31 so nearly 30 years in the party is no mean achievement. No one should write off what I have done for this party,” he stressed.
