President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has replaced Finance Minister, Ken Ofori-Atta as caretaker for the Ministry of Trade and replaced him with Abu Jinapor.

Jinapor, the Minister of Lands and Natural Resources takes over the Ministry vacated by Alan Kyeremanten on Monday, January 16th 2023.

President Nana Akufo-Addo earlier named Ken Ofori-Atta as caretaker after the former Minister stepped down to pursue his Presidential ambitions.

“The President of the Republic, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, on Friday, 6th January 2023, accepted the resignation from office of Mr Alan Kyerematen as Minister for Trade and Industry.

“The President has asked the Minister for Finance, Mr Ken Ofori-Atta, to act as caretaker Minister at the Ministry of Trade and Industry, until a substantive appointment is made,” an earlier statement issued by Mr Eugene Arhin said.

The decision was met with some backlash considering Ofori-Atta himself is under pressure to resign.

The President has seemingly backtracked on that and named Jinapor to the caretaker role.
