Former President John Dramani Mahama has thrown a stern warning to recently re-elected National Youth Organiser of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), George Opare Addo, aka Pablo, and Director of Communications, Sammy Gyamfi.
The two national officers are feuding after Gyamfi threw his support behind Pablo’s primary challenger, Yaw Brogya Genfi, in the recent NDC Youth and Women’s Congress.
After Pablo retained his seat, he attacked Gyamfii for trying to oust him from the party.
Although the latter has yet to respond, Mahama has quickly spoken out to nip the ‘beef’ in the bud before it gets worse and derails the entire party’s agenda.
He said the two attacking each other would distract from the hardships Ghanaians are going through and dilute the NDC’s attempts to highlight them for the public.
“I’ve had meetings with our Youth Organizer and Communications Officer and agreed with them that the current exchanges must stop. It brings our great party no benefit and only serves as a distraction from the hardship caused by the reckless management of our economy,” Mahama wrote in a post on Facebook.
The NDC holds its national delegates congress in two days and can scarcely afford anything but a united front considering the congress itself has some explosive matchups which could end up with worse recriminations.
In the biggest battle of the day, longtime General Secretary of the party, Johnson Asiedu Nketia, would attempt to unseat the incumbent Chairman, Samuel Ofosu-Ampofo, in a contest that has the potential to turn into a filthier war of words depending on the outcome.
