Political scientist and New Patriotic Party (NPP) member Dr. Richard Amoako Baah has said, the finance Minister Ken Ofori-Atta much not be allow to stay in office any longer,
This adds to the loud voices in Ghana who have called on the Minister office to vacate his position due to the economic conditions in the country.
Currently the Finance Minister is facing a censure motion in parliament over allegations of mismanagement and conflict of interest under his watch, a move spearheaded by the minority in parliament.
Speaking on his “What’s Going’ current affairs show on Ultimate 106.9 FM, Dr. Baah said it does not look likely the Finance Minister will be leaving anytime soon regardless of the cry of the masses.
“The Finance Minister has not resigned because he has something to gain in there by staying in there for that short time that he needs this is why I am saying they should remove him now don’t allow him to stay there, why is he still in there, he wants to steal the last money, what is it, it makes no sense”
“The more adamant you stay there, the more there is suspicion. You have been there for six years, why do you want to stay there for three more months? Is it because you haven’t finished what you have been doing? That is what it is so am saying it bluntly we should not allow him to be there. Let’s wait and see what happens till next week, they vote to throw him out, the president starts misbehavior then we vote and throw him out too that is how democracy works”, he said.
The NPP member, who is now an avowed critic of his party and its leadership style under Akufo-Addo, believes the time is right and now to vote out a non performing party that wowed the electorates with sloganeering.
“Running government on slogans has caught up with the NPP, let hope that we will remove them, the president included, the finance minister, the vice president, the bank of Ghana, all of them and things will get better.
“The way and manner this are happening, if we don’t take care, we may not just get a haircut but your whole head may be cut off, if we leave these guys in charge, we will be dead”, he stated.
Ghana’s economy under the current administration seems to have taken a hit, with government’s defense being the Russia – Ukraine war and the covid-19 pandemic causing the shocks.
The government has failed to admit reckless expenditure has caused the shocks as being propagated by the opposition NDC and other economists.
Inflation in the country is at an all-time high with food and transport inflation pushing the expenditure of the masses.
