Finance Minister, Ken Ofori-Atta, appeared to take aim at investigative journalist, Anas Aremeyaw Anas, during his remarks before the ad-hoc Parliamentary Committee.
Ofori-Atta called for witch-hunting and entrapment to be eschewed from our politics, blows apparently aimed at both his political enemies trying to kick him out as Minister and Anas, who dropped his most recent exposé earlier this week.
“As a nation, we are being tested. Our circumstances require a united and concerted response to the crisis. I implore our chiefs, elders, and churches to take the mantle and speak a common language. Let us all work as one country to support labour negotiations, find a solution to the impasse in and rise above witch-hunting and entrapment. These are not ennobling and progressive for a society seeking transformation,” the minister said.
Ofori-Atta passed the statement as he faced down Parliament’s committee which grilled him over several charges including mismanaging the economy, among others.
Earlier this week, Anas released his latest exposé which revealed former Minister of State, Charles Adu Boahen, receiving a cash gift for shopping from some Arab businessmen who turned out to be undercover Tiger Eye PI investigators.
However, a similar attempt on the Finance Minister failed.
An insider employed by Tiger Eye led by controversial journalist Anas Aremeyaw Anas confirmed that the Finance Minister Ken Ofori-Atta was targeted and lured to the United Arab Emirates Dubai.
An employer of Tiger Eye has also now confirmed Ken Ofori-Atta was lured to Dubai and offered gifts to capture him on video.
According to the source who is currently employed with Tiger Eye but desires total anonymity, the operation to get Finance Minister was linked to Bonds and emails were exchanged over a period starting from late 2017 to arrange a meeting.
What prompted the team to target him was news of the supposed Franklin Templeton in Ghana’s Bonds market.
The source told MyNewsGh.com it was late Ahmed Suale who led the entire operation to set-up and record the Finance Minister who finally agreed to meet the “investors” in the Dubai International Hotel, inside the Airport on Transit to Tokyo in 2018.
The source said they could have gotten the Finance Minister on tape but the man became suspicious as their “Sheikh” delayed in appearing because he was asking for more money before he can play the Sheikh.
