Lead organizer of the ‘Ku Me Preko’ demonstration, Martin Kpebu says signatures are being collated for Parliament to impeach President Akufo-Addo.
The private legal practitioner has called on the President and Vice President to resign over economic hardship in the country.
He led a demonstration which saw hundreds of Ghana march to express their anger and frustrations over economic difficulties.
Speaking in an interview on Asempa FM’s Ekosiisen on Monday, he said that the process to impeach the president is currently being carried out online.
According to him, the group wants to proceed in accordance with what the 1992 Constitution provides under Article 69 – impeachment or Article 66 or resignation by himself.
The call for Akufo-Addo impeachment has been loud from the group which believed that the president should step down after the demonstrations.
However, on Monday, the President is still in office without any indication of resigning.
When asked what the next step for the group is, Mr. Kpebu said “we are petitioning online to Parliament. We want Parliament to impeach him.”
The lead organiser of the ‘Kume Preko reloaded’ demonstration said the protest will persist until the desired outcome is achieved.
In a related development, the private legal practitioner has hinted at holding similar protests in other regions of the country.
Mr. Martin Kpebu who was speaking on Joy FM’s Super Morning Show explained that this will give the populace across the country the chance to express their frustration towards the Akufo-Addo government.
He insisted that the incumbent government has mismanaged the economy, thus, must resign for the citizenry to vote for a more competent person to steer affairs of the state.
“We are still debriefing, it is quite a process. We’ll have other meetings to analyze but even before we were done with this one, we had received invitations from people in Kumasi, Takoradi, and even Tamale to come.
“So we’ll need funding,” he told hosts Winston Amoah and Kojo Yankson on Monday.
