New Patroitic Member of Parliament (MP) for Nhyeaso, Stephen Amoah PhD says, the speech delivered by Former President Mahama were rehash of old stories without any workable policies.
He says, the former president only touched old wounds and added nothing new in address the country’s economic challenges.
According to him, the president should have present any policy alternatives that he intends to bring on board rather that repeating issues that has been shelved.
“What Mahama said about the size of government has been said several times, the numerous loans have been condemned on several occasions, and are now even old. What we want to know are the new workable policies he intends to bring on board”
He added that, while he acknowledges the hardship in Ghana, the government is working to resolve them.
He says regardless of the hardship, the former President of Ghana can never be an option to be considered by Ghanaians unless he tells the people of his new policies and points to a social intervention of the NDC in Ghana.
The Lawmaker continued that, the NDC as a party has failed on his ideology as a social democratic party.
He believes that as a Social Democrat party, the NDC should be leading in pro-poor policies or social interventions in the country but that has not been the case throughout the history of Ghana and the NDC.
These he believes should be the reason why John Dramani Mahama and the NDC should not be considered and trusted to make Ghana better.
“It is legitimate for the people of Ghana to complain because times are hard. But it’s never true if you blame this government for the hardship the country is bedeviled with. Even with the challenges look at Infrastructure, look at social intervention policies.
“The NDC that talking, the party which is a social democratic party that in economic policy direction adopts what’s called discretionary economic policies, should have been the ones to be doing most of the pro-poor policies. Show me one social intervention of the NDC. If it comes to roads and infrastructure, we all borrow to do it and if I give you money to build for me, that isn’t difficult to do. With the pro-poor policies, you need to generate your internal resource and later you could get access to grants which the NDC cannot do because they cannot manage the economy.”he said.
