Former Constituency Chairman for New Juaben South, Kwadwo Boateng Agyemang has accused NPP Members of Parliament for not being loyal to party and acting for their selfish gains.
He says, the MPs calling for the removal of the Finance Minister Ken Ofori-Atta are hypocrites who are only concerned about their selfish interest.
Some New Patriotic Party Members of Parliament held a press conference to demand the resignation of removal of the Finance Minister, which failure to heed to their call will lead to boycott of government business in parliament.
However speaking to Kwasi Aboagye on NEAT FM, the NPP communicator said, the action of the MPs are unacceptable and needs to be condemned.
“ We will not sit down for you to act in your selfish interest…. In this era and current dispensation you are the MPs President Akufo-Addo has really taken care of in terms of all forms or things, and especially because of the slim majority, so you blackmail him here and there, do they think we don’t know?” he quizzed.
Adding that, the party has kept quiet to ensure harmony in the party but they won’t sit down for them to take on the president like they have done.
“….But because of the party interest we have also kept quiet and as a party people we are also close to the government and we know what is going on….the government of the day, the president has really taken care of you and you can’t deny that… “ he said.
He has therefore asked the MPs who threatened the party and President to go independent if they can’t be loyal.
“ The party does not belong to the MPs…. Nobody asked you people to come and contest as Members of Parliament, you should know your responsibility within the party and your loyalty within the party… if you are not loyal to the party I beg you go and stand independent…. “ he said.
Taking a swipe at the leaders of the group, Mr. Agyemang said, “Andy Appiah-Kubi, Eugene [Boakye] Antwi from Subin, at the beginning of this government weren’t they deputy Ministers? Was Ken Ofori-Atta not their Minister? At the time didn’t they know he was not up to the task….”he asked rhetorically.
