President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo says he cannot be bothered to worry about people who decide to abandon his party and vote for the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC).
Speaking in an interview on Otec Fm in Kumasi, the President said people who threaten him that they will abandon the NPP to vote for another party due to his perceived underperformance are the least of his worries.
He said if you decide to leave a party like the NPP to vote for the NDC, then that is your own problem.
The President was responding to a message from a listener that if certain roads are not constructed in the Kwabre and Manso townships, they would abandon the NPP en masse and vote for the NDC in the next election.
“People make those kinds of threats; they don’t frighten me. Somebody votes for you, and somebody supports you. It’s because they want you to do certain things for them. I understand that. But there is no need for people to say that if I am unable to do this and that… those are their own issues to deal with. Of course, I will do it (the road),” he said.
“But if it comes to the election and you choose to vote for the NDC, that is your own issue that is not my worry because nobody holds your thumb to vote; it is your own work. The important thing is that I understand my responsibility, and we will deal with it,” the president said during an interview on Kumasi-based Otec FM
Nana Akufo-Addo is in the Ashanti Region for a four-day working visit.
Already, he visited the Manhyia Palace to once again renew his commitment to ending the menace of galamsey.
