National Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) has severed the sternest warning, says the party is building a war machinery towards the 2024 general election.
According to the Samuel Ofosu-Ampofo, the NDC is going to approach the upcoming election well prepared to win the election.
The national chairman who was talking about achievement the party has achieved since he became the national chairman said, the aim of the party is to strengthen the party and its structures.
“The emphasis and the work to strengthen the structures of the party that we have been able to get branch executive and it is now left with constituency executives, we are building the party as a war machinery that we can be able to use to win the 2024 election.” He said.
The chairman, who is seeking reelection, said in an interview with Radio Gold that the party executives have delivered.
According to him, working to ensure the party wins the speaker of parliament was huge.
“I can say as a leader of the party that it was through my effort and direction that we were able to achieve all this. Where we have positioned the party now, we believe when we make arrangement like we are doing, for the first time we have branch elections and they were incident free.”
Showing his appreciation to the hard work done by his executives at the regional and constituency levels, he said,
“I doff my hearts for regional executives and constituency executives. For the past three months, some have not slept at home. They have been crisscrossing between Kumasi and Koforidua.”he added.
The National Chairman touted the key role member of the party played in th 2020 election including the opposition to John Mahama candidacy.
He said, he unified the party and that is why they were able to achieve such huge wins in the parliamentary election and closed the gap in the presidential election.
“We gave everyone who contested John Mahama for the flagbearership a job to do. Through that unity of purpose, we were able to perform well at the 2020 polls. We never lost that election. The supreme court was the one that did not uphold our case. That is why we have said we won’t go to the Supreme court in 2024 but we are strengthening the party base as the polling station level,” Ofosu-Ampofo said.
