Joseph Oppong Brenya, a former worker of Multimedia outlet Joy FM has revealed why he was sacked from the media outfit.
The now worker of NEIP said in a post on his facebook page that, he finds interesting that Multimedia will defend a birbery allegation when he was relieved of his post for exposing bribery act in 2010.
Bab Jamal, a Deputy Information Minister in 2011 was captured on leaked audio recording allegedly threatening to sack workers of the Information Services Department (ISD) if they failed to project the then Mills government in good light.
“Yours is to make government look good, whatever the circumstance. If the government buys sheep and gives it as a gift, you are free to say it is a cow. You are free to say that. If the colour of the sheep is black, you can say it was a white colourful cow,” he allegedly said per the audio recording.
He continued: “…If you take negative public [issue], you give it to us secretly. If we hear you have leaked it to the public we will fire you and we will defend it. I am just making it clear.
“We are going to the elections next year, so the MCEs, any ISD staff who is going against his ethics or mandate let us see him quickly before he sees us out.”
Mr. Brenya, revealing this after nearly 11 years later said, his action was as a result of mistrust by his superiors who he suggested could have decided against publishing the story.
His revelation comes on the back on alleged bribery of Nhyira FM Nana Kwadwo Jantuah, by Former President Mahama and the clearance issued by Multimedia stating there is no truth in such allegation.

In 2010 i was working with JOY FM(Multimedia) as a news reporter, the NDC tried to bribe journalists in the Upper East Region
This was the plan ; that we were to recieve monthly salary from NYEP now YEA so we can do the bidding of the government.
Baba Jamal, then deputy Information Minister met us and told us that “If the government buy black sheep, say it is white”
So I recorded all these things and wanted to make a publication on them to expose the government, on a second thought I realised if I give it to my bosses the story will be killed so I gave to the then NPP communication director, Nana Akomeah who organised a press conference and exposed the government’s plan.
Multimedia sacked me for leaking the info to NPP.
Today Multimedia Journalist is been bribed by John Mahama, for me I didn’t take any bribe, I only leaked info.
We are watching with keen interest.
