Kumasi based Oyerepa FM has gone off air in compliance with the demands by the Kumasi Traditional Council.
Management of Oyerepa fm were invited to the meeting of Kumasi Traditional Council yesterday Thursday August 25 on a viral video of Akwasi Addai Odike, Founder of United Progressive Party allegedly spewing unpleasant comments on their Breakfast show against Nananom
The CEO of the Station reportedly admitted to wrong doing on their part and pleaded for forgiveness.
Nananom admonished them to channel their apology through a proper customary procedure for same to be rendered.
They were also admonished to show proof of some remorseful ness by going off air until the issue is resolved.
They were asked to return on Monday August 29.
However some players in the media industry have questioned the authority of the chiefs to demand the station to go off air.
Both Ghana Independent Broadcasters Association GIBA and the Media Foundation for West Africa have condemned the demand of the chiefs and advised the station to ignore.
The management of the station were however of the view that under the circumstances, and in view of where they are based, they had limited choices.
