Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia has reacted to the shocking passing of the late Mion Lana, Alhaji Mahamadu Abdulai, heir apparent to the Yaa Naa.
The late Chief of Mion died Wednesday, August 17th 2022 after a short illness at the Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital aged 48.
Dr Bawumia took to social media to react to the shocking news of his passing, sending his condolences to his family and the entire chiefs and peoples of the Kingdom of Dagbon.
He revealed that he alongside the chief of Staff, Madam Akosua Frema Osei Opare, had visited the Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital to pay respects to the late Chief and commiserate with his family.
Mion Lana passes away
The heir apparent to the Dagbon skin, Naa Mahamadu Abdulai, died after a short illness on Wednesday, August 17th 2022.
Naa Mahamadu Abdulai was Mion Lana, Chief of Mion and heir apparent to the skin of Yaa Naa Abukari II under the rotational system employed by the Dagbon kingship.
He was enskinned as Mion Lana on 3rd March 2019, at the Gbewa Palace in Yendi following the ascension of Yaa Naa Abukari II as the Overlord of Dagbon.
He was born Mahamadu Abdulai in 1974, the first son of the late Ya Naa Mahamadu Abdulai IV who was the Overlord of Dagbon from 1969 to 1974.
Abdulai leaves behind four wives and 12 children.
He has been buried in Sambu, the traditional capital of Mion in line with Dagbon custom and tradition.
