Former Chief of Defence Staff of the Ghana Armed Forces, Brigadier General (Rtd) Joseph Nunoo-Mensah has warned John Mahama to help find solution to the current economic problems in Ghana else there could be no Ghana for him to rule again.
This warning comes on back of a seemingly heightened tension and security threat in Ghana due to the current economic condition in the country.
He said it is in the interest of Mahama to help President Akufo-Addo to deal with the current economic crisis because if the hardship persists, there will be no country for him to lead.
According to him, the wish of the National Democratic Congress and John Mahama is for the current government to fail for them to form the next government which is not the best in the interest of the country.
“Our leaders don’t always act in our interest. The problem we have now is that President Mahama is waiting for Akufo-Addo to fail so that he becomes the next leader. He has to be careful because Ghana may not be there for them to rule if care is not taken.
“If you don’t know death, look at sleep. Looks at Libya, look at Sri Lanka, look at Lebanon. My warning is not from stupid thought; I am speaking based on logic.
“We are sitting in this country and people are hungry. I have never seen hungry like this; I have never seen it… where we are heading is dangerous. People are hungry, and we have to be really careful,” Nunoo-Mensah said in Twi.
This warning adds to a myriad of advice that has been proffered by security analysts in Ghana about the country volatile security situation due to economic hardship.
The President of Ghana has had recourse to encourage the Military to remain committed to the constitution, with the former President John Mahama adding his voice to the call.
