Ghanaian actor and former Parliamentary candidate for Ayawaso West Wuogon on the ticket of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), John Dumelo, has lashed out at some men of God who visited a galamsey site to pray for the menace to end.
In a statement posted on his Twitter handle, John expressed bewilderment over what exactly the pastors went to do at the site.
“I just have one question. The religious men and women who went to the galamsey site to pray, what exactly did they pray for?” Dumelo quizzed in a post to his near 2 million followers.

His post follows the publication of a viral video by UTV in which some men of God were spotted taking a tour of some galamsey sites in the Eastern Region.
They later sang praises and prayed to God to save the nation from the throes of galamsey.
UTV Ghana shared the video with the caption: “Christian Ecumenical Bodies in Ghana tour some ‘galamsey’ sites in Eastern Region,”
The video went viral with angry social media users taking aim at the pastors for indulging in useless posturing without taking any concrete measures.
Another top NDC member, Yayra Koku, similarly attacked the pastors in a post on Twitter.
“I think Christianity is our biggest problem as a country. What kind of hypocrisy is this? Instead of calling the govt & NPP party members who are into Galamsey out, see what they are doing. They are visiting galamsey sites to pray. GOD, PLEASE GIVE US WISDOM,” he wrote in a post shared to Twitter.

Just like Kufuor sent pastors to pray for Akosombo Dam, Akufo-Addo has sent pastors to galamsey pits to pray. They know your proclivity for spiritual shenanigans so they serve you some more opioids all the time. Ghana is irredeemable!
