Legions of Ghanaian youth on social media have fired back at businessman Daniel McKorley, popularly known as McDan, after he claimed majority of young people today are too lazy.
McDan during an interview said the reason the country cannot progress as much as it should is that young Ghanaians sleep too much and are not interested in hard work but simply begging for help.
However, a fierce backlash has met McDan’s comments as legions of young people describe him as ‘corrupt’ and not fit to lecture them.
In replies to his post on Twitter, many people said McDan himself is corrupt and is in n position to lecture anyone on hard work.
The verified Twitter handle, Politico GH, accused the politician of coming into wealth via politician connections and illegalities
“I am amazed that we find ourselves being lectured by McDan. Ken’s favorite pet and the most corrupt man in Ghana,” the Twitter user said.
Another user, Kojo Dynamic said: “Those who even invite McDan for business forums are my problem. You don’t know how McDan and his thugs molested the people of Ada to take their salt land? Tsw”

Mr McDan with all due respect you’re wrong. How can the youth survive if there is inadequate jobs in the country. What have you done to help curb the retrogression of the country. You’re totally wrong

Speaking on the Super Morning Show on Joy Fm Wednesday, January 5th 2023, McKorley said Ghana’s development is being stunted because of the kind of youth we currently have who are not driven to achieve anything but rather prefer to oversleep.
“The youth of these days sleep too much and that is the problem and we have been treated with kids’ gloves and this whole country, especially the youth, is becoming a begging nation and we have to get rid of that,” he said.
“There are so many opportunities out there, there are so many things the youth can do but they need to push themselves one step higher and also know that manna will not come from heaven. You need to take a step before you can make it,” he added.
The CEO said there is a ton of money out there to be made but young people are not motivated or intelligent enough to discover these avenues.
“Too much money around the system, but the youth are confused about how to grab those monies. There are times they tend to look at the wrong angles and that is a problem” he added.
