The Minister of Interior, Ambrose Dery, has declared Tuesday, December 27th 2022, as a statutory public holiday.
This is due to the fact that Christmas Day falls on a Sunday, December 25th.
Usually, a holiday that falls on the weekend would be observed on the next available weekday but since Monday is Boxing Day – also a holiday – the commemoration falls on Tuesday, December 27th.
This was contained in a press release signed by the Interior Minister.
“The general public is hereby notified that Sunday, 25th December 2022 marks Christmas Day which is a Statutory Public Holiday,” the release read.
It added: “However, in view of the fact that 25th December 2022 falls on a Sunday, His Excellency, the President of the Republic of Ghana, has by Executive Instrument (E.I), in accordance with Section 2 of the Public Holidays and Commemorative Days Act, (Act 601) declared Tuesday, 27th December 2022 as an additional Public Holiday and should be observed as such throughout the country.”
Ghanaians would therefore enjoy an additional holiday on Tuesday, December 27th.
