Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia graced the funeral and final rites of the Western Regional Imam, Sheikh Mohammad Sani Abdullahi Bawa, held on Sunday, October 30th 2022.
Dr Bawumia joined the Muslim community in the region in Sekondi for the farewell ceremony fo the late leader.
The Vice President made this known in a post on social media.
“I joined the Muslim Community of the Western Region and beyond, in Sekondi this morning, for the adua (funeral) of Sheikh Mohammad Sani Abdullahi Bawa, who until his passing, was the Western Regional Imam.” Dr Bawumia revealed in a post on his official Facebook page.
“May the Almighty Allah grant him Jannah, and continue to comfort his family and loved ones.”
Shieck Alhaj Mohammad Sani Abdullahi Bawa died in September at the age of 74.
His Special Aide, Alhaji Kamal, revealed the 74-year-old Chief Imam visited his family in Kumasi and had a slight domestic accident.
“He visited his family in Kumasi for a meeting and had a domestic accident. He was descending the home stairs when he fell and became sick afterward. He came back a few days ago fit and active. He, however, fell ill again and we rushed him to the Effiankwanta Regional Hospital but he could not survive and died,” he solemnly indicated.
The Western Region Chief Imam was installed on May 21, 2022 and died on Thursday, September 22.
He replaced Chief Imam Sheikh Ustarz Dr. Ali Hassan Ali, who died after having occupied the position for some years.
