Liz Truss has announced her resignation as the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom.
Her announcement comes, at exactly forty-five days since she was elected by the Conservative party in the United Kingdom after Boris Johnson.
At a press conference at No. 10 downing Street on Thursday, she told reporter the circumstance that brought her to office, recognizing the “great economic and international instability”.
Adding that, “….I recognize given the situation I cannot deliver the mandate on which I was elected by the Conservative party.”
The outgoing prime minister added that she has communicated her decision to King Charles III, and that she will stay in power until the Conservative Party elects a new prime minister.
Liz Truss becomes the PM with the shortest tenure, serving 45 days in office.
