Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia has urged the National Muslim Conference to work hand-in-hand with Christian groups in Ghana to preserve the unity of the country.

Dr Bawumia further urged the council to partner with their religious counterparts in helping the government as development partners for the betterment of Ghana.

The Vice President made his call when he joined the His Eminence, the National Chief Imam and other Muslim leaders and groups for the opening of the 2nd National Muslim Conference (NMC) in Accra.

Dr Bawumia appeared at the ongoing conference on Thursday, September 22nd 2022.

The National Muslim Conference brought together various Muslim groups around the country through the efforts of the Muslim Caucus in Parliament.

Dr Bawumia revealed on Facebook his reason and purpose for attending the event.

“This afternoon, I joined His Eminence, the National Chief Imam and other Muslim leaders and groups for the opening of the 2nd National Muslim Conference (NMC) in Accra. I urged the NMC, which has brought together various Muslim groups through the efforts of the Muslim Caucus in Parliament, to uphold its ideals, and also join hands with other faith-based groups, such as the Christian Council of Ghana, to preserve our unity as a country, as well as become development partners of government for the betterment of our country.” Dr Bawumia wrote on Facebook late Thursday.
