This comes after the Public Utility Regulatory Commission (PURC) approved a 27 percent upward adjustment to the utility company.
The statement reads in parts “The Electricity Company of Ghana wishes to inform our cherished customers and stakeholder that it will implement the PURC approved major tariff review, which was announced on 15th August, 2022, with effect from Thursday, 1st September.
The statement further cautioned the general public of a possible increase affecting energy consumption level.
“It is important to note that the average percentage increase is on energy consumption only, therefore the addition of the statutory levies and other fixed charges will increase the average percentage announced by the PURC.
